Kelly McGlothen-Bell, Ph.D., RN,  nurse researcher and postdoctoral fellow at UT Health San Antonio, has been selected as a 2019 Health Disparities Research Institute Scholar by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities.

She will be one of 50 scholars attending the 2019 NIMHD Health Disparities Research Institute in August.

The research institute features lectures on minority health and health disparities research, small group discussions, mock grant review, and seminars. Institute participants will also have the opportunity to meet with NIH scientific staff engaged in related health disparities research across NIH institutes and centers.

Dr. McGlothen-Bell earned both her bachelor’s and doctorate in nursing from UT Health San Antonio. She is currently a NIDA T32 postdoctoral fellow studying the impact of prenatal opioid exposure on the health of the maternal-infant dyad.
