Biology of Aging Student Day
The annual Edward J. Masoro Biology of Aging Student Day organized by students in the program took place on Friday, May 18th at the Texas Research Park.
Invited speakers to this event included graduate students and post docs in the Biology of Aging discipline of the Integrated Biomedical Sciences program who presented their innovative and progressive research. The winner of the best presentation was Valentina Garbarino, (graduate student in Dr. Georgianna G. Gould’s lab).
The keynote speaker, Dr. J. Michal Jazwinski, the director of the Tulane Center for Aging, gave an engaging presentation on the summation of his work in aging entitled, “Biological Aging – An Attempt to Keep It Together.”
Winners of the poster session were Kennedy Mdaki (post doc in Dr. Yuguang Shi’s lab), Catherine Cheng (graduate student in Dr. James Nelson’s lab), and Meghna Chinchankar (graduate student in Dr. Al Fisher’s lab).
The Second Annual Trivia Challenge pitted PI’s against post docs, against graduate students and this year the graduate students took home the grand prize trophy in an exciting tiebreaker against the PI’s.
