GSBS Neuroscience Alumna Dr. Nicole Baganz was in the news twice for her contributions to public communication, outreach, and education about neuroscience.

She was featured by The Vanderbilt University Medical Center Reporter and the Nashville Scene for her success with the Vanderbilt Music and Mind Exposition.

The exposition brought together the neuroscience community with Nashville’s thriving music industry and highlighted music as a way to better understand the workings of the brain.

As part of her work, she has facilitated a new association between the Vanderbilt Brain Institute and the Music-Heals Project, a California-based non-profit research foundation dedicated to “raising awareness of the healing power of music.”

She is also working with Mark Wallace, the director of the Vanderbilt Brain Institute to coordinate an upcoming Music-Heals Project “Symphonic Suite for Healing” performance.

The performance will star Mike Garson, on April 21, 2016, at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

Dr. Baganz, who is now a postdoctoral fellow at Vanderbilt University, was also awarded the 2015 Next Generation Award by the Society for Neuroscience. We are so proud of Nicole and her hard work!!
