The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences held its graduation ceremony on Friday, May 20 at the Holly Auditorium.

We were privileged to have
retired USAA President and CEO General Joe Robles as our Commencement speaker
this year.

General Robles holds a business degree in Accounting from Kent
State University, and a MBA from Indiana State. Born in Rio Piedras,
Puerto Rico, Robles joined the U.S. Army in 1966, and after 28 years of
distinguished service in a variety of command and staff positions retired as
Major General before joining USAA in 1994.

This year, we are also honored
to have as our first Graduate Student speaker, Jane Shen-Guenther, M.D. Jane
matriculated into the Translational Science Doctoral Program in 2012 after
completing the Master of Science program in Clinical Investigation in
2011.

Jane has served as an Army physician as well as held academic
