Ara Alexandrian matched with the Therapy Physics Residency program at University of Washington, Seattle. While as a student, Ara worked to create an application for radiotherapy experts that would provide suggestions on the best treatment care for radiotherapy patients. The application utilized historical clinical data from successful radiotherapy treatment plans. He also developed an intelligent algorithm which recognized patterns for maximizing treatment efficacy while mitigating patient toxicity.
Kristen McConnell matched with the Therapy Physics Residency program at University of California, San Diego. While as a student, McConnell worked to design and test a radiation dosimeter that uses DNA double-strand breaks to detect dose. She tested its response using low and high energy photons generated here on campus as well as neutrons from UT Austin’s nuclear reactor. She also served as the COGS chair for Radiological Sciences and was an instructor for undergraduate courses in Radiation Physics at Texas State University.
Robert Cole Boggs
Robert Cole Boggs matched with the Imaging Physics Residency program at the University Of Birmingham School Of Medicine. While as a student, Cole worked with resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance spectroscopy to establish imaging biomarkers for mild traumatic brain injury that have the sensitivity to detect and track pathophysiologic processes important for monitoring the status of neurofunctional deficits, identifying potential therapeutic markers, and correlating to long-term functional outcomes.
