Kenneth M. Hargreaves, D.D.S., Ph.D., has won the Outstanding Research Accomplishment (Individual/Academia) Award from the Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS).

The award recognizes outstanding research contributions on the health and well-being of the military by an individual research scientist.

Dr. Hargreaves’ primary research interests are in the areas of pain and inflammation. He’s published 176 peer-reviewed articles, five books and 33 book chapters.

His nomination for the MHSRS award notes that his research “wil significantly advance the treatment options for combat-related pain and provide new guidelines for pain management using non-opioids medications in active duty military personnel or VA populations, which will have a significant impact on science, public health, military policy, and on improving the lives of military service members and their families.”

The MHSRS is the Department of Defense’s premier scientific meeting. It provides a venue for presenting new scientific knowledge resulting from military-unique research and development.
