We have an opening for two Post-Doctoral Research Scientists at our Mason, Ohio site. 1st Role) Develop and improve spectrometry-based approaches and quantitation. 2nd Role) Research, develop and implement ultra-trace quantitative methods for analytes in various matrices using chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry.You will join a state-of-the-art laboratory where collaboration and individual initiative is valued. Current core mass spectrometry (MS) instrumentation on-site includes twenty state-of-the-art triple quadrupole mass spectrometer and seven high resolution mass spectrometers, along with associated UHPLC, GC and SFC chromatographic equipment.You will: 1. Develop and execute new methods for botanical characterization for safety assessment and support claims.
2. Development and execute methods to resolve ultra-trace analytes.Develop new data analysis/interpretation approaches and partner with Analytical colleagues. Partner effectively in multi-functional, multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., toxicologists and formulators) for R&D problem solving. Publish and present findings of the research.
Job Requirements:
Do you have a Ph.D. degree based on research demonstrating in-depth knowledge of mass spectrometry and Analytical Chemistry? She/he should have technical deep understanding in quantitation of small organic molecules OR in the analysis of small molecule natural products and organic chemistry. Significant experience with Thermo, Sciex and/or Agilent MS software and techniques such as HPLC, GC, SFC, as well as CAD or ELSD detectors will be a plus. You will also have skills in leadership, innovation and creative problem solving, collaboration with people in other disciplines, and strong oral and written communication.

We us the best available technology in pharmaceutical analysis, deliver practical Analytical solutions to tough challenges across the PHC business unit in the area of method development and validation—including challenges resulting from new technology development. You will lead several aspects of Analytical capability development in the separations science area within our PHC Analytical organization. Technology responsibilities for this role include hands-on utilization of separations science techniques, such as Liquid Chromatography (HPLC, UPLC) and Gas Chromatography (GC), dissolution and wet chemistry sample preparation. You will apply deep Analytical and Organic Chemistry mastery and strong communication skills to shape interactions with project teams inside the Company. A strong understanding of cGMP standards for regulated drug product development and working with downstream manufacturing plants is helpful.
Other job responsibilities:
- Perform all phases of applied research in a high-end analytical lab to solve problems in pharmaceutical analysis.
- Partner with customers to define problems, understand business and technical context, design experiments, execute plans, and communicate results.
- Serve as a single point of contact from the PHC Analytical group to one or more cross-functional organizations and/or project teams.
- Own fully the responsibility to cultivate both a safe workplace and work systems that meet quality/compliance expectations.
QUALIFICATIONS
We believe you will be an excellent fit if, you have:
- A PhD in analytical chemistry or closely related discipline.
- 1-3 years performing chromatography
- Strong technical writing skills—including ability to create validation protocols, reports, and analytical methods
- Experience validating assays aligned with industry and regulatory body guidance.

Product Development:
You should work to understand the consumer and translate their needs into designs and strategies that they value. We use quantitative and qualitative modeling tools to define what the consumer needs as well as the technical requirements necessary to build something amazing. You would be responsible for the development and oversight of electrical, mechanical or chemical based product designs.
Process Development:
You will lead the design, development and delivery of state of the art manufacturing systems, processes and equipment. You will have responsibility for high-end computer modeling, empirical modeling, process/equipment design and start up of breakthrough manufacturing technology concepts in both experimental and commercial scale.
Material Development
Start by developing ‘new to the world’ raw material technologies so we can meet our customer’s needs with the highest quality and within the target cost. We use models to build the technical understanding needed to specify material requirements.
Packaging Development
Packaging Development Engineers develop creative packaging that is easy to use and looks amazing. We believe in building a sustainable environment and would like your help in looking for new ways to develop responsible packaging. Engineers in this field work with 3D digital modeling, material science experts and industrial designers to design and deliver unique and superior packages.
Modeling and Simulation (M&S)
Our challenge is to model new and existing products or processes. You are needed to help us develop and apply the right mathematical models to develop innovative new products and processes. You should be able to work with a multi-functional team to define the model’s requirements and then deliver the development and execution of a modeling program.
Data Scientists
Here, we would want you to communicate complex data or algorithms into simple conclusions that will empower others to drive action based on the insights you derive. As a Data Scientist, you will transform the business to enable better decision-making through the usage of advanced analytics. You will be the primary evangelist to the business for the power of predictive analysis and develop business cases to show how we can improve our predictive capabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
If you want to join us, you will need:
- A BS or MS in engineering. We prefer Chemical, Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering, but we also consider other, similar engineering degrees
- Overall G.P.A. of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale
We are also looking for someone who has:
- Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening and
- Critical thinking, active listening and strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment
