Dr. José Cavazos Elected to Serve as Chair-Elect

Dr. José Cavazos, professor and assistant dean for the South Texas Medical Scientist Training Program at UT Health San Antonio, was elected by his peers (M.D./Ph.D. program directors) to serve as chair-elect of the M.D./Ph.D. Section of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) and the National Association of M.D.-Ph.D. Programs for 2019-20.

He will serve the 2020-21 term as Chair for both organizations, and then as past-chair in 2021-22.

“I am truly humbled by this honor and plan to work hard to improve recruitment and retention in the physician-scientist workforce pipeline,” Dr. Cavazos said.
