The idea for the GSBS Yoga Classes was conceived by Laura Gomez, program coordinator for the Radiological Sciences Ph.D. program who has done several yoga sessions with the Yoga Seva Institute.

“They were so relaxing and helped me to destress, so I thought what better way to help out our students in these trying times, than to try out yoga,” she said.

She believes that yoga is relevant in today’s circumstances because we have so many stressors all around us.

“I think this will help relieve some of our daily stress, along with restoring mental and physical balance,” she said.

She believes that restorative yoga is a good start for beginners because it does not encompass all these crazy movements or postures.

“It’s meant to help one slow down and tap into the mind and body to learn how to relax during stressful moments,” she said.

Gomez is excited to see and hear how this series will help our students restore their mental and physical health.
