End Of Year Letter By Dr. Weiss

GSBS Community,

Well this has been quite a year. The last ten months have been the most challenging times that our community has faced in recent memory.

Lockdowns, loss of loved ones, school closings, the use of masks, and social distancing/isolation have drastically changed the way we live.

I know this has been a stressful and uncertain time for all. Despite this challenge, I believe we have risen to the occasion, providing stability, comfort and inspiration to many throughout our community.

I said it before, and I’ll say it again, I could not be more proud of how everyone, faculty, staff, and students, responded to this pandemic. Such a wonderful example of the resilience we so often talk about. Well done all.

And finally, there is now some light at the end of the tunnel, with the first vaccinations starting on our campus this week. And such a monumental example of the importance of scientific research. And because of this, I will look forward to us all being together again on campus in the very near future.

But for now, continue with best practices and stay safe. And please, have a fantastic holiday season.

David S. Weiss, Ph.D.
Professor of Physiology
Dean, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences
