Call For Nominations: New Student Awards

Each year the graduate school awards 6 travel awards for deserving students to travel to a scientific conference. The certificates for these awards are presented during the Student Government Awards ceremony, typically in late April. In lieu of the traditional travel awards for this year, the GSBS is pleased to announce three student awards. Eligibility is limited to currently enrolled GSBS student. Each winner will receive a $100 check and a certificate from the Student Government Association.
Students may be nominated by a fellow GSBS student, a GSBS faculty member, or a GSBS affiliated staff member. Deadline for submissions is Monday, March 15th by 5pm. All nominations must be submitted at www.utbiomed.com/awards21
Outstanding Student Research Award
This award is for the student who shows an outstanding record of research accomplishments over the last year. Special consideration will be given to the student who adapted their research goals during the pandemic to focus contributing to COVID 19 related topics. The recipient of the Outstanding Student Research Award would have thrived in this changing environment, overcome obstacles, and/or pushed forward despite the difficult circumstance
Outstanding Student Leadership Award
The Outstanding Student Leadership award is for a GSBS student who has demonstrated dedication and leadership through their involvement in one or more campus activities. This student should have contributed to the institutional culture, been active in student activities and/or student organizations and exemplify the qualities of character, leadership, and scholarship. The student should serve as a role model for the student body by volunteering, coordinating events, excelling in school, motivating fellow students, and portraying an overall positive attitude.
Outstanding Community Service & Engagement Award
This award is for the student who is making an impact and is dedicated to meeting the needs of the community. This student should embody the core values of our institution, is of outstanding character, and demonstrates a consistent record of community engagement, service, and support to UT Health San Antonio and beyond the laboratory.
Winners will be announced & certificates awarded at the Student Government Association’s Virtual Student Awards Night on Thursday, April 22, 2021.
