The Ruth Kirschstein National Research Service Award (T32) grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) was just renewed for five years.

The training grant is used to support the Cancer Biology Training Program. The goal of the program is to train individuals in all aspects of cancer biology so that they will have an appreciation of the basic, translational, and clinical research.

“The renewal of the grant will allow the program to continue participating in training outstanding predoctoral students from Cancer Biology Discipline of IBMS,” said Dr. LuZhe Sun, the program director.

The T32 grant is geared towards enhancing predoctoral and postdoctoral research training, including short-term research training, and to help ensure that a diverse and highly trained workforce is available to meet the needs of the nation’s biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research agenda.

Research training programs incorporate didactic, research, and career development elements to prepare individuals for careers to have a significant impact on the health-related research needs of the nation.
