The San Antonio Business Journal has named Dr. Ruth Ruprecht a winner of the San Antonio Business Journal’s 2016 Health Care Heroes awards. Dr. Ruth Ruprecht is an adjunct professor in the School of Medicine Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Genetics and director of the Texas Biomedical Research Institute AIDS Research Program.

She was named “Outstanding Medical Researcher. Her lab studies lentiviral pathogenesis, the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV-1, and AIDS vaccine development.

Dr. Ruprecht is one of four members of the Health Science Center family that were honored. The annual awards recognize outstanding achievements by people in the local health care industry.
