Introducing Our New Alumni Video Spotlight Series
The Pipette Gazette will be featuring video spotlights of our alumni. Our first one features Jodie Gray, Ph.D. (Class of 2020, Radiological Sciences)
Name:
Jodie Gray
Class Year:
2020
What is your current profession?
Researcher- Private Industry
What led you to choose UT Health?
UT Health San Antonio is home to one of very few accredited Diagnostic Imaging Physics training programs nationwide. The training program and world-class research facilities such as the Research Imaging Institute made UT Health SA my first choice for pursuing my PhD.
What did you do after graduating?:
After graduation, I transitioned into research and development in private industry. How has your degree impacted your professional career? My degree has enabled me to be a self sufficient researcher in the rather niche field of imaging. The independence that is learned over the course of completing an entire dissertation carries over very well into the professional setting- you get to take all of your skills with you (you earned them!) and a PhD gives so much more than just textbook knowledge.
What advice do you have for people entering or currently in the field?
Take every opportunity that you are afforded, especially if it seems outside the box.
If you have questions for Jodie, reach her on our GSBS Alumni site. Students can make an account at www.gsbsalumni.com. If you are interested in participating, email Charlotte.
